The Social Poets: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks Rick Perry

The Social Poets: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks Rick Perry:

From Denny: Jon Stewart pokes at all the holes in Rick Perry's Texas-sized braggart argument as to why he thinks he should get to be president.

The media was horrified - just like the Independents - at the audience howling for blood, cheered that 234 people were executed in Texas just this year alone.

Stewart has labeled Perry as The Great White Hope.

The Social Poets: Courtesy of Ralph Nader: Who Will Be Obamas Democratic 2012 Challengers?: From Denny: Might the 2012 election finally get off the snooze button? Ralph Nader, for decades the legendary consumer advocate, hopes to liven things up a bit for President Obama. No one is happy with the GOP offerings and few are enthused about a second term for Obama.

How a primary challenge can help America

Nader's insurgency effort to recruit a pack of liberals to run against Obama should prove to be some exciting politics. At the very least it will accomplish two things: one, it could give the Democrats a chance to compare Obama to other possibilities and ensure his standing in the party to get him reelected should he perform well with them.

Two, some hard-charging liberal base competition will push Obama to quit masquerading as a Republican in Democrat's clothing and give a hard push to helping the middle class reinstate their job losses and put this chaotic economy back on track.

The Social Poets: When Unsexy Becomes The New Sexy: Americas Infrastructure

the great Seto bridgeImage by hwat via Flickr

From Denny:  There is a new book out to inform us just how dangerous our bridges are across America"Too Big To Fall" (America's Failing Infrastructure and The Way Forward) is from New York real estate lawyer, Barry Lepatner, also the author of "Broken Buildings, Busted Budgets."

The Social Poets: When Unsexy Becomes The New Sexy: Americas Infrastructure: Just a year ago most people turned the channel when the snooze story came on about the crumbling American infrastructure. Not so since President Obama made it the centerpiece of his new jobs bill that has the GOP and Democrats lining up and pushing back to kill it just for the sheer size of it.

Here are a few statistics to get your blood boiling or get your Halloween scare on:

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Animation Art: Origins By Robert Showalter

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Animation Art: Origins By Robert Showalter:

From Denny: "Origins" is a delightful little animation project. It addresses the universal questions of "Where do we come from?" and "Where do I belong?"

This tiny and charming robot begins his search as a train passes by, marked with the exact same logo as he sports on his metal chest. That point of familiarity prompts him to begin his journey of discovery to search for his origins. What he finds and what he decides I will leave for you to discover. :)

The Social Poets: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks What It Took to Humanize Dick Cheney

The Social Poets: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks What It Took to Humanize Dick Cheney: From Denny: Jon Stewart loves to talk about the Darth Vadar metaphor in regards to former Vice President Dick Cheney. Cheney has a new book out, called "In My Time," and is busy hawking it on every talk show that will take him.

Stewart gives us many clips of Cheney hard at work selling his piece of fiction he claims is nonfiction. What's amusing is how "The View" talk show just had to say, "Mr. Vice President, let's talk about this little bulge here." She patted his chest. Jon thought that funny as he wondered out loud "how that (statement) played to the radio broadcast audience."

As Cheney launches into his "old man talks about his health issues" talk on "The View," Stewart is speechless, unable to mock. Can it be there is finally something Jon cannot mock successfully? Find out why in this funny clip:

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: What Is Your Daily Meditation Focus, How Do You Know You Succeeded In The World?

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: What Is Your Daily Meditation Focus, How Do You Know You Succeeded In The World?: From Denny:  You awaken in the early morning.  What is your first thought?  Is it to get the coffee going so you can turn your brain on, chasing away the sleep cobwebs?  Is your first thought to start that To Do List in your head even before the sun rises?

Too often we fill our lives with "musts" and an endless stream of physical tasks all nagging for our attention.  Jumping to those demands can easily get us out of balance, stressed out and excessively tired.

Have you ever considered changing what you think about when you first open your eyes in the morning?  Know that you will get around to attending to your daily routine.  Things have to get done and they will - but are you giving yourself the gift of cherishing that first thought in your day?

The Social Poets: Funny Jon Stewart, Colbert React to Republican Debates

The Social Poets: Funny Jon Stewart, Colbert React to Republican Debates: From Denny: Only Jon Stewart could dissect this crazy GOP line-up, revealing true agendas. When he goes after Michele Bachmann for her idea of mothering it sure is a left field what she says.

You expect her to comment on how raising five biological children and 23 foster children she would opine upon parenting skills in the area of how they needed lots of love and daily structure. Nope. What she says is "children need jobs." No kidding.

What I found most disheartening about her quote about children of poverty - from a over a year ago - is when she commented about how the poor should raise themselves up on their own, without government help - ever.

"Hunger is a great motivator." From that day forward I always wondered if she had starved any of those foster children to force them to do what she demanded.

The Social Poets: 9-11 Stories Roundup: How Is America 10 Years Later?

The Social Poets: 9-11 Stories Roundup: How Is America 10 Years Later?:

From Denny: Every year when this date comes we all pause and remember those whose lives were taken quickly and horribly. We mourn for those left behind and pray for them to find their way in life.

For the youngest generation this event is a moment seared upon their memory, remembering where they were when America was struck by terrorism and the Twin Towers fell. Included here is an article of how to talk to children about the attack.

Not all associated with this terrible event is sadness, despair and sorrow. Whether survivors, or families and friends of the fallen, many have discovered the well of strength within themselves. Others have started charities and foundations to honor not the dead but the lives of the victims, promoting their life philosophies and initiatives. Stories of wonderful inspiring people have been shared in the news and memorials for the world to remember.

Dennys Global Politics: Full Text, Video of America Jobs Speech From President Obama:

From Denny: Here is the unedited version of the America Jobs Speech that President Obama hopes will turn around the economy and get him elected to a second term.

Without real results from this jobs effort the American voter will elect just about anyone else come the 2012 election, retiring him into the one-term president category.

The public is in that ugly of a mood after three years of a timid president nibbling around the edges of a troubled economy in need of bold leadership.

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Robber Dressed as Gumby Almost Arrested For The Fumbles

Sept. 5 - San Diego Police Dept./AP

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Robber Dressed as Gumby Almost Arrested For The Fumbles:

From Denny:  Talk about the bumbling robber and hilariously funny. This silly guy goes into a San Diego 7-Eleven gas station store to rob them and the clerk refused to take him seriously. (Full story here.)

The Gumby Robber asked first for Marlboro cigarettes.  The clerk thought it was a prank and he had been punked.

He didn't know who the 1950's Gumby cartoon character was and described Gumby to police later as "a weird greenish version of Spongebob Square Pants."

The clerk told the robber, "I don't have time for this.  I'm cleaning right now."

The Social Poets: Poll For Economy and 2012 Election: Should Obama Step Aside?: From Denny: President Obama's numbers are sinking fast with an American public tired of him nibbling around the edges of a disastrous economy with small incremental gestures going nowhere. What Americans expect is bold action to reinvigorate the economy with millions of jobs.

The newest poll to come out measuring the public anger with Congress in general and frustration with a timid president is from the NBC News/Wall Street Journal. They used both Republican and Democratic pollsters and it was conducted from 27 to 31 August 2011.

Obama's current status with voters:

* approval - 44 percent
* disapproval - 51 percent

The Social Poets: Funny Late Nite Jokes: Talking Trash Politics

LSU wins against the Oregon Ducks 40-27!  All is well in Louisiana tonite.
The Social Poets: Funny Late Nite Jokes: Talking Trash Politics: From Denny: Catch up for the month of August on all the political and social commentary, courtesy of our beloved national comics.

With the state of our politics in the abyss of The No Sense Zone we all could use a good laugh and these guys sure don't disappoint! :)

The real question is not who are we going to vote for in 2012 but rather do any of us feel motivated to go vote at all considering all the crazy talk and broken promises?

Did you know that increasingly Americans get their news analysis from satirical comedians and blogs like this one? They no longer trust the mainstream media to give them important details of the news. It's more and more apparent that too many media outlets have their own agendas - like making money off forcing an interest in a story or situation: the minutia of the 2012 presidential election.

The Social Poets: Millennium Prophecy Coming to Pass? Hurricane Irene Floods, Devastates America: Millennium Prophecy

After viewing the extreme flooding it does bring to mind those "Millennium Prophets" we heard on the news back in the late 1990's and early in 2000. Remember them? Better yet, remember the aerial maps depicting the flooding, showing much of the American Southeast under water and America split in two, divided by a widened Mississippi River?

We are definitely living in a time of geologic change. As a country we need to get serious about adapting to our changing world of melting polar ice caps, more severe weather, earthquakes and rivers changing course. Just this year alone the earthquakes have been so influential as to change the earth's axis by several degrees. That affects how water and weather moves across the planet.
